Felician Is Sixth Again At CACCs

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. -- The Felician College golf team matched its best finish at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships, placing sixth out of 11 schools at the annual league meet held Monday and Tuesday at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club and hosted by Chestnut Hill College. Felician also finished sixth in 2010.

Felician posted a 335 team score on Monday and was tied for sixth after Day 1. The Golden Falcons followed up with a 331 on Tuesday. Their two-day total of 666 was 10 strokes behind fifth-place Nyack College and 15 ahead of Dominican (N.Y.) College, which finished seventh. The top four scores each day of the five players in the starting line-up constitutes the team score.

Sophomore Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, NJ) was the only Golden Falcon to crack the top 20 finishers. Tsouhnikas shot 77 on Monday and 83 on Tuesday, and his 160 tied him for 13th place out of 54 entrants. Senior Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ) tied for 21st with 86-77-163.

Also competing for Felician were sophomore Matt Smith (Gibbstown, NJ) (31st, 88-82-170), senior Brian Luyster (Wayne, NJ) (T-33rd, 84-89-173), and graduate student Jason Smith (Gibbstown, NJ) (43rd, 88-94-182).

Wilmington (Del.) University won the CACC Championship with a 300-301-601, ending Post University's five-year stranglehold on the title. Post was the runner-up with 304-304-608. Wilmington's Andrew Baldo was the individual champion with 70-75-145 on the par-72, 6,838-yard course.
