NEWARK, Del. -- The Felician College men's golf team concluded its 2012-13 fall season with a grueling one-day, 36-hole event on Monday, finishing third of five teams at the Goldey-Beacom College Fall Invitational at Newark Country Club.
The par-71 course totaled 6,396 yards. Senior Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J.) topped the Golden Falcons in both rounds. His 81 headed a 334 iteam score in the morning 18 holes, and he followed up with an 80 to lead Felician to a 333 in the afternoon. The team 36-hole score of 667 was 12 shots behind second-place Chestnut Hill College, and 12 ahead of fourth-place University of the Sciences.
Tsouhnikas tied for fifth place out of 27 entrants. The balance of Felician's scoring foursome was bunched together in the final standings. Freshman Kevin Berdink (Clifton, N.J.) shot 84-82-166 and finished 13th, and was immediately followed in 14th by sophomore Christopher Davis (Rockford, Ill.) (83-85-168). Freshman Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa.) carded an 86-86-172 and placed 17th.
Also in the starting line-up was sophomore Chris Zito (South Hackensack, N.J.) (95-90-185, 23rd).
Host Goldey-Beacom easily won the event with 317-301-618. Lightning junior Patrick McRae was the medalist, starting with a 78 before tying a GBC record with a 66 in the afternoon for a two-over-par total of 144.
Tsouhnikas led Felician in scoring average for the fall season with 80.5 for 11 rounds.
