TELFORD, Pa. – In its final meet of the fall season, the Felician College men's golf team posted its best result thus far in 2013-14, placing fourth out of 12 schools at the Griffin Invitational, hosted by Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday at Indian Valley Country Club.
The course proved to be a challenging 6,859 yards, as only two of the dozen teams broke 330. Felician, which finished third out of five Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference members in attendance, shot 344 (+56), 10 strokes behind the host Griffins for third place, and six ahead of fifth-place Dominican (N.Y.) College.
The Golden Falcons put all four of their scorers among the top half of the 59 individual entrants. Sophomore Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) topped the Felician contingent with an 11-over-par 83, and tied for 13th place. Junior Jordan Tackett (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) finished 16th with an 85, and right behind in 17th was Golden Falcon freshman Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) with an 86.
Sophomore Kevin Berdnik (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) came within two strokes of his season low, with his 90 tying for 21st. No. 5 man Chris Zito (South Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) fired a 94 and tied for 37th.
Geesey completed the fall half of the campaign with a scoring average of 78.0, slightly off the pace for the school record of 77.4 set by Joe Leardo in 2009-10.
Concordia (N.Y.) College defeated Division III Moravian College by three strokes, 312-315, to win Tuesday's championship, and Concordia's Kyle Grandilli was the medalist with an even-par 72.
