Tsouhnikas Makes Top 10 In CACC Golf Championship

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Felician College senior Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) tied for ninth place at the 2013 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Championship, hosted by Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday and Wednesday at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. Tsouhnikas tied for the best individual finish by a Golden Falcon at the league meet in the eight-year history of the Felician program.

As a team, Felician finished in 10th place, repeating its 2012 result. The Golden Falcons carded a 353 on the first day of competition and sat in 11th place, but turned in a 339 on Wednesday to move three strokes ahead of the University of the Sciences. Felician was four shots behind ninth-place Holy Family University.

Tsouhnikas, playing in the No. 1 spot in the line-up, was the low man for Felician in both rounds and the only Golden Falcon to break 80 in the tournament. After Tuesday's round, he was tied for 11th place , shooting 79 on the par-72, 6,902-yard course. He moved up two slots in the final standings by firing 78 on Day 2. Tsouhnikas' previous best finish in the CACC Championship was 13th as a sophomore.

Joe Peters tied for ninth place for Felician in the 2007 CACC Tournament.

Tsouhnikas was the only Felician player to finish in the top half of the standings of the 54-player event. Junior Chris Zito (South Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) was the Golden Falcons' No. 2 man, with his total of 85-88-173 good for a tie for 37th. Two strokes behind Zito, in a tie for 41st, was freshman Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) (94-81-175).

Rounding out the Felician contingent were freshman Kevin Berdink (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) (51st, 95-92-187) and senior Anthony Bizien (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) (54th, 111-120-231). Bizien's Tuesday round was his best of the season by seven shots.

Wilmington (Del.) University won its third consecutive CACC title with a +35 score of 299-312-611, finishing 18 strokes better than runner-up Concordia (N.Y.) College. Wilmington's Paul Tighe repeated as medalist with 74-76-150 (+6).

The 2013 CACC All-Tournament Team consisted of Wilmington's Tighe, Jerry Temple and Andreas Lunding, Concordia's Eutimio Fernandez-Meade, and Tom Rees of Post University.
