LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Felician College sophomore Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) bested a field of 16 players to earn medalist honors at a men's golf tri-match hosted by Philadelphia University on Sunday afternoon at the ACE Club. Felician was playing its 2013-14 season opener.
The ACE Club is a par-72 course that measures 7,500 yards. Geesey played it in 75 on Sunday, taking a two-stroke victory over runner-up Joe Parker of the host Rams. It was the first individual win of his collegiate career.
The Golden Falcons, however, could not put another player within 10 strokes of Geesey. Their team score of 346 left them with losses to both Philadelphia (327) and Chestnut Hill College (337). The Rams claimed the second, third, and fourth finishers, while Griffins ended up in spots 5-8.
Felician junior and first-year college player Jordan Tackett (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) was ninth with an 87, while an 89 from senior Chris Zito (South Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) tied him for 10th place.
The balance of Felician's starting line-up was freshman Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) (13th, 95) and sophomore Kevin Berdnik (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) (14th, 108).
The Golden Falcons will play in a two-day event for the first time this season when they travel to the Goldey-Beacom College Fall Invitational on Sept. 29-30 in Townsend, Del.
