#21 Women's Bowling

Zalewski Leads Toriello, Bowlers To First Wins

READING, Pa. – Freshman Jessica Zalewski (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) shot 888 for five games to lead the Felician College women's bowling team to a seventh-place finish out of 16 schools at the Kutztown University Team Matches on Sunday at Berks Lanes. Zalewski also produced Felician's high game of the tournament, a 204 in Game 2.

Felician went 4-1 in its dual matches on the day to improve its dual won-lost record to 4-6 on the season. In a traditional team match, each school lines up five bowlers who bowl a full game, and total pinfall determines the winner.

In their first dual of the day, a 197 from freshman Kristen Keller (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) led the Golden Falcons to an 822-644 triumph over Pennsylvania State University-Altoona. It was the first dual-match victory in program history, as well as the first win for Felician head coach Andrew Toriello of Rutherford.

Zalewski's 204 helped Felician to an 862-704 win over Coppin State University. In Match 3, the Golden Falcons needed every bit of Kaitlyn Stapleton's (Washington Township, N.J./Westwood Regional) 191 to help pull out a 814-813 win against Medaille College.

Felician improved to 4-0 on the day with an 825-637 win over the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford – topped by Keller's 186 – before running into the day's second-place team, Delaware State University. The Hornets ended the Golden Falcon winning streak by a 926-836 count.

Zalewski was the only Golden Falcon to be entered in all five matches, and her day average of 177.6 led the team. Her 888 put her in a tie for 17th place out of 104 individuals. Stapleton averaged 174.3 for three games, and Keller 171.8 for four.

In the overall team standings, Felician's pinfall of 4,159 was 138 behind sixth-place Franklin Pierce University (5-0), and 52 ahead of Adelphi University (2-3) in eighth. Adelphi had won the Kutztown Baker Invitational the previous day.

LIU Brooklyn was the overall winner with 4,799 pins (192.0 average) and a 5-0 dual record. The Blackbirds finished 34 pins ahead of runner-up Delaware State. The Hornets' 1007 in Match 2 was the only 1000+ team match score of the day.

The field posted an average of 803.3 per five-player team, or 160.7 individually.
