LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Felician College junior Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) earned medalist honors at a men's golf tri-match with Philadelphia University and the University of the Sciences, hosted by the Rams on Monday afternoon at the ACE Club. The match concluded the fall portion of Felician's 2014-15 season.
Geesey's four-over-par 76 led the event's 15 competitors and allowed him to win a tri-match for the second time in his career. He went out in an even-par 36 (one birdie, one bogey), before posting a 40 (two bogeys, one double-bogey) on the back nine. Geesey bested runner-up Eric Jones of USciences by one shot.
With a team score of 329, the Golden Falcons split their matches on the day. They were edged by Philadelphia's 327, but were winners over the Devils, who complied a 346. Just three players broke 80 on the day, with the Rams' Nicholas Nguyen fiishing third with a 78 on the 6,702-yard course.
Felician junior Kevin Berdnik (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) fired an 83, his lowest score since the season's first tournament, to tie for sixth place. Golden Falcon sophomore Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) shot 84 and finished eighth, and freshman teammate Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) was ninth with an 86.
Freshman Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) rounded out the Felician line-up. He totaled 97 strokes and placed 14th.
Geesey finished the fall with a stroke average of 78.9 to lead the Golden Falcons. Rasmus is averaging 81.6. Both players have played nine rounds.
