MANORVILLE, N.Y. – Felician College golfers Kevin Berdnik (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic), a sophomore, and freshman Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) produced their best rounds of the season on Day 1 of the 10th Annual Peter King Memorial, hosted by Dowling College on Friday and Saturday at Rock Hill Golf Club.
After heavy rain and wind shortened Saturday's round to nine holes, Felician placed 11th out of 14 schools with a team score of 331-170-501. Sophomore Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) was the Golden Falcons' top finisher, tying for 24th place out of 74 competitors with a 79-40-119.
Rasmus was the No. 2 man for Felician. His 81-41-122 tied him for 36th place. Berdnik, averaging 96.5 per round in 2013-14, came out with an 84 on a windy Friday before setting for a 45 on the front nine on Saturday. His 129 tied him for 53rd place.
Rounding out the Golden Falcon line-up were seniors Chris Zito (South Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) T-57th, 87-44-131) and Tim Gonzalez (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) (69th, 130-61-191).
Felician finished 11 shots behind 10th-place Dominican (N.Y.) College, and five ahead of St. Joseph's College of Patchogue in 12th. Nyack College won the tournament with a total of 297-156-453, and Dominican's Keith Prokop tied for medalist honors with Scott Underhill of Southern New Hampshire University, each shooting 72-36-108.
Felician returns to action in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on Apr. 8-9 in Blue Bell, Pa.
