OCEAN VIEW, Del. – The Felician College men's golf team began the spring portion of its 2014-15 season by placing fourth out of five teams at the Bear Trap Dunes Invitational, hosted by Dowling College on Saturday and Sunday at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course. The tournament was abbreviated to 27 holes by rain on Saturday.
Junior Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) led the Felician contingent by tying for 10th place out of 27 individuals. Geesey shot 39 for nine holes on Day 1 before carding an 80 on the par-72, 6,901-yard course on Day 2.
Sophomore Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) posted a 40-81-121 and finished in 15th place. Golden Falcon freshman Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) tied for 16th place (39-86-125), and fellow rookie Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) was 21st (42-85-127).
The Golden Falcons were tied for third place after Saturday's nine holes with a team score of 160. Felician's 332 on Sunday left it with a tournament score of 492, eight strokes ahead of the College of Saint Rose.
Roberts Wesleyan University won the tournament with a total of 157-303-460, four shots better than host Dowling. RWU also claimed the top two individuals in Alex Fitzpatrick (37-71-108) and Thomas Kolb (39-71-110).
