Thompson Has Breakout Performance At Saint Rose

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Justin Keiser (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) led the Felician University men's golf team for the second consecutive tournament, and classmate Hunter Thompson (Waymart, Pa./Honesdale) enjoyed his best performance of the young season to highlight the Golden Falcons' trip to the 36-hole College of Saint Rose Fall Shootout on Friday and Saturday at Pinehaven Country Club.

Felician finished eighth out of nine schools in the team standings, posting totals of 324 on Friday and 316 on Saturday for a 72-over-par score of 640.

Keiser's 80 on Day 1 on the par-71, 6,506-yard course matched Felician freshman Jake Storako (Laurel Spring, N.J./Highland Regional) for team low honors. But Thompson, whose previous best round on the year was a 86, carded an 81.

Thompson improved even further on Saturday, turning in a 77 for a two-day total of 158. He tied for 24th place in the 53-player field. Keiser also fired a Day 2 77, and tied for 20th with his +15 total of 157. Storako settled for 79 on Saturday, and tied for 30th place (159).

Rounding out the Golden Falcon line-up were juniors Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) (85-83-168, T-44th), and Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) (83-87-170, T-49th).

Just fourteen strokes separated the top seven teams in the standings. Felician finished 17 shots back of seventh-place Saint Anselm College.

Le Moyne College (308-301-609) won the event by two strokes over runner-up Dominican (N.Y.) College (308-303-611). Le Moyne's John Clare (74-75-149) and Sam Myers of Franklin Pierce University (73-76-149) tied for medalist honors.
