Golden Falcons End Fall Golf Slate With Trip To Lehigh

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Felician University men's golf team concluded the fall-semester portion of its 2021-22 schedule with a trip to the Lehigh University Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Saucon Valley Country Club. The Golden Falcons finished 14th in the event.

Felician was competing at Saucon Valley, home of the 2022 U.S. Senior Open, for the first time in program history. The facility's Grace Course played at 7,091 yards for the weekend

Felician, an NCAA Division-II institution, competed among 13 members of Division I, including the host Mountain Hawks. Senior Gonzalo Maldonado Felices (Almeria, Spain/Stella Maris) topped the Golden Falcons by carding rounds of 78 and 83 on the par-72 layout for a tournament score of 161. Maldonado Felices tied for 57th place out of 77 players who completed both rounds.

Sophomore Nathan Sampson (Leeds, England/Crossley Heath School) signed for identical scores of 90. Classmate Dylan Molloy (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) was the only Golden Falcon other than Maldonado Felices to complete a round in fewer than 90 strokes. He followed a 99 on Friday with an 89 on Saturday to finish at 188.

Freshman Kristian O'Grady (Thiells, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) also arrived at 188 for the weekend, managing rounds of 95 and 93. Freshman Brandon Mudrick (Hamburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley) rounded out the Felician lineup with totals of 95 and 104.

The Golden Falcons accumulated team scores of 358 and 355. At 713, they finished 74 strokes behind 13th-place Bucknell University and 76 shots back of Hofstra University in 12th.

Harvard University shot 290 (+2) on Saturday to come from behind and top Siena College by two strokes for the team championship, 586-588. Harvard's Brian Ma (69-73) and Siena's Nolan Crowley (72-70) tied for medalist honors, each with a two-under-par total of 142. On Friday, Harvard's Brian Isztwan made a hole-in-one on the 11th hole.

Felician played 10 rounds during the fall season. Maldonado Felices leads the Golden Falcons with a stroke average of 77.0. Sampson posted an 82.2 figure.
