BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. – The Felician University men's golf team produced the third-lowest score for a 36-hole event in program history on Monday at the Mike Bello Invitational, hosted by Le Moyne College at Timber Banks Golf Club. In the two-round, one-day tournament, Felician shot 311 in the morning round and 303 in the afternoon for an event score of 614.
Led by a second top-10 finish this season from senior Jake Storako (Laurel Springs, N.J./Highland Regional), Felician placed fifth out of eight in the team standings. On the 6,739 par-72, Storako was even for the first round and shot 76 in the afternoon. His 148 tied for sixth place.
Storako extended his own school record with his seventh career round of 72 or lower.
Felician junior Gonzalo Maldonado Felices (Almeria, Spain/Stella Maris) and freshman Nathan Sampson (Leeds, England/Crossley Heath School) tied for 20th place in the 45-player field, with 154s. Maldonado Felices carded identical rounds of 77, while Sampson turned scores of 78 and 76.
Graduate student Christian Lauchaire (Annandale, N.J./North Hunderdon) followed an 84 with a bounceback round of 74 and finished 32nd. Felician freshman Dylan Molloy (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) placed 38th with 84-80-164.
St. Thomas Aquinas College won the team championship with 295-300-595, two strokes better than the host Dolphins. Felician was 13 shots behind fourth-place SUNY-Delhi and two ahead of a pair of squads tied for sixth. Goldey-Beacom College redshirt freshman Hunter McGee claimed medalist honors with 72-67-139. He was the only player under par.
Felician's only two 36-hole events better than Monday's performance were a 605 at Le Moyne in October 2019 and a 612 at the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship event.
The Golden Falcons were back in action at the Thomas Jefferson University Invitational on Tuesday.
