NEWARK, Del. – The Felician University men's golf team teed off on the 17th season in program history by participating in the Goldey-Beacom College Fall Invitational on Monday at Deerfield Golf Club.
Four teams, all members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, were in the field. Felician senior Gonzalo Maldonado Felices (Almeria, Spain/Stella Maris) shot 77 on the 6,323, par-70 layout to finish fifth among the 20 competitors.
Felician freshmen Kristian O'Grady (Thiells, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) and Brandon Mudrick (Hamburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley) made their collegiate debuts. O'Grady carded an 87 and finished 15th, while Mudrick shot 97 and tied for 18th place.
Sophomore Nathan Sampson (Leeds, England/Crossley Heath School) placed 16th with an 88, and classmate Dylan Molloy (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) matched Mudrick's 97. Felician's team score of 349 was good for fourth place in the event, 23 strokes behind third-place University of the Sciences.
Host Goldey-Beacom won the tournament by shooting 298. The Lightining's Camilo Samur shot 71 for medalist honors.
Felician will participate in the 2021-22 CACC Championship tournament on Monday and Tuesday, October 4-5, in Watertown, Conn.
