Women's Basketball Is Outlasted By Holy Family, 56-51

Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University sophomore forward Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada/J. Addison School) scored a career-high 17 points and added nine rebounds, but the Golden Falcons were defeated, 56-51 by visiting Holy Family University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball action on Sunday evening at Job Gymnasium.

Felician (6-10, 4-3 CACC) closed a 14-point second-half deficit to two but saw its comeback stalled. Freshman guard Courtney Logan (Riverview, Fla./East Bay) recorded 12 points, six rebounds and four steals and junior guard Catherine Lecop (Madrid, Spain/Lycee Moliere) also netted 12 points for the Golden Falcons.

Felician was playing at home for the first time since December 7. Uchidiuno was 7 for 8 from the floor and 3 for 3 at the foul line in 30 minutes off the bench.

Felician, which never led, fell behind, 10-2, after nearly seven minutes of action. The Golden Falcons' defense kept them within range of their guests, and after one period the hosts trailed, 12-8. The sides were within five points of each other for most of the second quarter, until a layup and free throw by Holy Family junior Jenn Kokulus (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) allowed her team to carry a 26-20 edge into halftime.

Ahead by that same margin, 34-28, with 3:14 left in the third period, Holy Family tallied the next eight points to take their largest advantage of the night. The Tigers were up, 45-34, at the end of the third, and 48-36 with 8:11 left in regulation time. But a Katelyn Andres (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) layup capped a 10-0 run that pulled Felician to with two at the 4:26 mark.

Felician, however, was held without a field goal for the balance of the evening. Junior Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) scored on Holy Family's next two possessions for a 52-47 edge and 3:21 remaining, and the Tiger defense obtained the stops it needed in the closing minutes. HFU was 4 for 8 at the foul line during the final 1:13, enough to secure the victory

Moore topped the Tigers (11-10, 6-6) with 17 points, eight rebounds, and five steals. Felician held Holy Family to 30-percent shooting from the floor, but only converted at a 30-percent clip as well.

Felician is home again on Tuesday to face Dominican (N.Y.) College in CACC play at 5:30 p.m.
