Castellano Named to All-Tournament Team for A Tied for Third Place Finish

WATERTOWN, CT- Freshman Cesar Castellano (Madrid, Spain) has been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Tournament Team, the first freshman and third golfer in Felician history to do so, for his performance a the CACC Golf Championships on Oct. 3-4.  The event was hosted at Watertown Golf Club in Watertown, CT.

On Monday, Castellano had carded a 71-74-145 (+3) and tied for 2nd place after 36-holes. He closed out the tournament shooting a final round of 79, making his final score 224 (+11) and dropped down a spot to tie for 3rd place. Since Castellano finished among the top-5 finishers, he was named to the CACC All-Tournament Team, the first freshman in Felician history to be honored. The last time Felician had golfers named to the CACC All-Tournament Team was in 2016-2018 when Andrew Geesy won the 2016 CACC Golf Championship and Jake Storako was a 2x All-Tournament Honoree (2016-2017 & 2018).

As a team, the Golden Falcons followed its 312-309 -621 (+53) rounds on Monday with a 317 on Tuesday. Their tournament score of 938 (+86) left them in 5th place out of 8 competing schools.

Two-time Rookie of the Week, Pablo Hidalgo (Marbella, Spain), tied for 11th with a score of 79-77-77 – 233 (+20). After the first round, he was sitting tied for 16th and moved 5 spots for his final finish.

Head coach, Ben Dinallo, commented on the freshmen: "Cesar played great in all-three rounds, both Castellano and Hidalgo have been great additions to our team and I'm proud of the way Cesar fought. He is certainly deserving of the honor."

Sophomore, Kristian O'Grady (Thiells, NY) finished 22nd with a first-round total of 78-78 -156 (+14) and ended the tournament with a final round of 84, for a total of 240 (+27). Two places behind, Graduate Student, Gonzalo Maldonado Felices (Almeria, Spain) finished tied for 24th with 84-80-79 – 243 (+30). And in 32nd place, Junior James Surovcik (Philadelphia, PA), tallied a score of 87-93-82- 262 (+49).

Goldey-Beacom College took home its 4th CACC Golf Championship and held a steady 1st place throughout Monday and Tuesday. The Lightening's sophomore, Mason Kucy, took home the individual title with 69-73-76- 218 (+5). Castellano was only 3 strokes behind the Individual Champion but dropped to 6 in the final round.

Felician is back on the Watertown Golf Course next Monday and Tuesday at the Post Eagles Invitational.
