STATEN ISLAND, NY – Women's Bowling traveled to Staten Island, NY to compete in the Seahawks Invitational, hosted by Wagner College, at Rabs Country Lanes on Saturday and Sunday.
Senior, Madelyn Weston (Hatboro, PA), finished 7th out of 43 bowlers for the Golden Falcons with a 190.8 average and 954 total pins in the sum of 5 games. Her highest scoring round was 229 in the final Traditional Match against St. Francis University (PA). Felician also finished 7th during the weekend with a 3-5 record winning 2 Bakers Matches and 1 Traditional Match with a 164.7 average.
The invitational started with 5 Bakers Matches on Saturday and then went into the Traditional Matches on Sunday. The Golden Falcons started off the weekend in 6th place with two round losses against Wagner College and Caldwell University, but were able to gain its first win (Bakers Match 3) against Molloy University, 790-776. The squad went on to win its final Bakers Match against Wilmington (Del.) 832-827. On Sunday, Felician notched its only Traditional Match win against Wagner College, 821-779, dropping to 7th place for the overall finish.
Two-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Bowler of the Week, Ashley Ferrara (Beachwood, NJ), finished in 14th place averaging 179.6 with a total pinfall of 898. Sandra Hornor (Brick, NJ) was the third Golden Falcon to place with a 166 average and 830 total pins, in 22nd.
Marie Ferris (West Deptford, NJ) and Mia Aish (Teaneck, NJ) claimed the 25-26 spots. Ferris totaled 777 pins with an average of 155.4 and Aish averaged 143 with a 715 total pinfall.
The Women's Bowling team takes a 2-month hiatus as its next event is on January 20 at the Northeast Classic in Deptford, NJ, hosted by Sacred Heart/Long Island.
