Hornor Leads Bowling To Fourth Place On Griffin Baker Sunday

WILMINGTON, Del. – Freshman right-hander Sandra Hornor (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) compiled a team-high Baker frame average of 18.16 to lead the Felician University women's bowling team to a fourth-place finish out of nine schools on Day 2 of the Griffin Baker Classic, hosted by Chestnut Hill College on Sunday at Bowlero Prices Corner.

The tournament was the second of two one-day events hosted by the Griffins over the weekend. Teams competed in five 5-game Baker matches, with the final standings determined by total pinfall. Felician knocked down 4,284 pins, a per-game average of 171.4.

The Golden Falcons began the day a narrow 788-779 victory over host Chestnut Hill. But that was the only dual win Felician could muster on the day. It dropped a pair of matches to Caldwell University and one to Wilmington (Del.) University, and also faced a bye due to the odd number of teams. The Golden Falcons were 3-6 in their dual matches for the weekend.

Hornor bowled leadoff (1st and 6th frames) for Felician during their first two matches, before settling into the setup role (4th and 9th frames) for the balance of the afternoon. Senior Jenn Ingulli (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) bowled to a 17.10 figure and senior Natalie Swindell (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) averaged 17.08 over the five matches.

Felician finished 148 pins behind third-place Wilmington and 49 ahead of Kutztown University in fifth. No. 23 nationally-ranked Adelphi University clamed the team championship, edging Caldwell by eight pins. The Cougars, however, were 5-0 in their dual matches.

Felician (31-37) next competes in the James Brown Invitational, to be hosted by Morgan State University from Feb. 11-13 in Towson, Md.
