RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician women's basketball wrapped up their holiday tournament weekend with a match up with the Molloy University Lions for the first game of the afternoon. After the Lions held the 59-61 lead over the hosts,
Katherine Ritchie (Mentone, Victoria, Australia) bucketed a quick jumper to force an overtime period.
The green-and-gold got out in front with a quick four points from
Mar Vidal (Tona, Spain), but the squad went cold midway through the extra minutes as Molloy secured the 72-74 thriller win.
Here's What Happened:
- After the opening 10 minutes of regulation, the Golden Falcons trailed the Lions by a pair 9-11 and eventually snagged the lead going into halftime, 31-26.
- During the third quarter, both teams battled for the upper hand when the score favored both teams four times until Ane Valle (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain) and Vidal recorded points for the 38-35 advantage.
- With the final stanza underway, the Golden Falcons recorded their largest lead of the afternoon with eight, 53-45, when Aisha Traore (Bronx, N.Y.) went one for two from the line.
- Molloy rallied past the hosts when they held the Lady Falcons to four points compared to the visitor 13 for the 57-58 turnaround lead. From there, the contest was pushed to extra minutes with the score tied at 61.
- Vidal kept the Golden Falcons spark alive as she posted the opening five points in extra minutes as the squad led the Lions, 66-63.
- The score was equalized once again at 66 and saw two more lead changes until the opposer obtained the 67-68 lead and ultimately captured the win 72-74.
Box Score Insights:
- The Golden Falcons had four players record double-digit points – Traore and Valle 15, Vidal 13 and Ritchie 12.
- On the boards, Traore posted her second double-double of the season when she captured 20 rebounds and Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada) had 12 while Ritchie had 10.
- Uchidiuno posted four blocks in the contest and Ritchie had four assists.

The Golden Falcons (0-5) will open up conference play on Wednesday when they host Caldwell University at 5:30pm.
