Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Felician Upended in Connecticut By Post University

WATERBURY, C.T. - Upon entering the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball contest between the Felician Golden Falcons and Post Eagles, both squads are in the battle for the #1 seed in the North Division.

In the previous meeting, Felician toppled the Eagles 81-68, however, Saturday afternoon featured a different kind of contest where Post secured the victory, 58-66.

Here's What Happened:
  • The Golden Falcons ignited the first quarter strong as they paced the Eagles with a 20-14 lead. By the second, the Eagles posted 22-points of their own and held the green-and-gold to 14 as well to enter intermission 34-36 lead.
  • Mar Vidal (Tona, Spain) and Ane Valle (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain) opened the second half with a combined three points to trail the hosts by one, 37-38, but the Eagles continued to edge the squad until Valle tied it up at 42 from the chairty stripe.
  • There would be two more ties in the third on points by Maci Covello (Kearney, N.J.) and Uzor Uchidiuno (Toronto, Canada), but each time the green-and-gold equalized the Eagles jumped out in front.
  • In the final stanza, the Eagles held a seven point advantage over the Golden Falcons. As Felician would tirelessly work to slash the host lead to one, they could not surpass the Eagles as they were upended, 58-66, for the CACC loss.
Box Score Insights:
  • Valle led the charge with 16 points and four assists while Vidal was second on the team with 13-points. Vidal also snagged three steals.
  • Aisha Traore (Bronx, N.Y.) would grab 10-rebounds to continue dominating the boards for the Golden Falcons and Uchidiuno had 2 blocks and eight points. n
  • Both squads committed 20 turnovers, but out of those committed the Eagles would convert 24 points in their victory while Felician had 17.
  • Felician shot 23-60 (38%) from the field and 77% (10-13) from the freethrow line.
There's one more game remaining in the regular season for Women's Basketball (10-14 / 10-5 CACC). Their final contest will take place in JJJ Gymnasium on Wednesday, Feb. 28, for their honorary senior night celebrations and to host Dominican (N.Y.) University at 5:30pm.

Prior to the warm-up period for the CACC basketball contest, Felician University and Felician Athletics will be celebrating our Women's Indoor Track and Field and Swimming teams on their respective championship wins on Feb. 18 in JJJ Gymnasium at 3:00pm. We hope to see you there!!!
