Golden Falcons Tackled by Tigers for CACC Quarterfinal Loss

RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Felician women's basketball hosted the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Quarterfinal contest with the S#3 seed Holy Family University Tuesday evening in JJJ Gymnasium.

In the previous meeting between the two teams, the Golden Falcons stuck right with the Tigers and only dropped to their opposers 62-68 in the fourth quarter. Tonight, the Tigers grasped all momentum from tip off right until the final buzzer to hand Felician the 48-67 loss.

Here's What Happened:
  • The Golden Falcons struggled from the jump and was only able to tally seven points from Ane Valle (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain), Mar Vidal (Tona, Spain), and Aisha Traore (Bronx, N.Y.) in the first quarter of play.
  • The Tigers piled on 16 after the first and then another 18 for the 20-34 advantage over the green-and-gold after the first half.
  • By the third quarter, the Golden Falcons were shoved into a 20 point deficit, 22-42, and by the final stanza, the hosts would get it down to at least 14 points, but the trench of the Tigers lead was too steep to recover from and dropped, 48-67, to cut their playoff run shot.
Box Score Insights:
  • Valle finished the day leading all Golden Falcon scorers with 24 points and shot 50% (2-4) from the long range while also tallying eight rebounds and three steals.
  • Katie Ritchie (Mentone, Victoria, Australia) recorded eight points and six rebounds and Deviney Jackson (Long Island City, N.Y.) had six points.
  • Felician shot 34% (19-56) from the field in contrast to the Tigers' 39% (24-62).

The Felician women's basketball season started with them being ranked fourth in the north division in the CACC preseason poll and ended up being seeded second behind Post University... almost taking the regular season championship title of the North, but came up a game short. That's a wrap!
