Felician Women's Basketball Drops Close Contest to Georgian Court

Ritchie has standout performance

RUTHERFORD, NJ – January 4, 2025 – The Felician University women's basketball team came up just short in a tightly contested CACC matchup against Georgian Court University, falling 73-67 on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.

The Golden Falcons opened strong, taking a 16-11 lead in the first quarter. However, a tough second quarter saw them score just nine points, allowing Georgian Court to edge ahead. The Lions capitalized further in the third quarter, outscoring Felician 22-16 to widen the gap.

Sophomore Katherine Ritchie was a force for the Golden Falcons, leading all scorers with 21 points while grabbing eight rebounds and tallying five assists. She also added four steals to her all-around performance. Fellow sophomore Ane Valle contributed 14 points and five rebounds, while freshman Stephanie Formby impressed with 11 points and nine rebounds in just 23 minutes.

The Golden Falcons forced 33 turnovers, converting them into 35 points, but struggled to match Georgian Court's efficiency. The Lions shot a blistering 51.1% from the field, including 46.7% from three-point range, and their bench made a significant impact, outscoring Felician's reserves 40-5.

Felician surged late in the fourth quarter, pouring in 26 points, but Georgian Court's poise at the free-throw line – shooting 85.7% (18-21) – secured the win.

The loss brings Felician to 5-9 overall and 1-2 in CACC play, while Georgian Court improves to 2-12 overall and 2-1 in conference action.
