From 2002-05, Jackie Scarpari was a softball pitcher who Felician coach Kathy Hill was not afraid to also insert into the offensive line-up. In fact, the Monroe Township native was usually the Golden Falcons’ designated player the games she did not pitch.
As a result, Scarpari is likely the top two-way player in Felician history. The two-year captain remains the Golden Falcons’ only three-time all-CACC selection in softball -- and was chosen twice as DP and once as a pitcher. As a senior, she was also named to the conference’s All-Tournament squad.
In her freshman campaign of 2002, the Golden Falcons posted a won-lost mark of 26-12, setting a school record for victories that still stands.
Offensively, Scarpari was one of the first members of Felician’s 100-hit club. She batted .408 in 2004, a Golden Falcon record that stood for nine years. She was a .309 career hitter. Program pitching archives are incomplete, but Scarpari holds Felician records for wins (15) and winning percentage (15-5, .750) in a single season.
Scarpari was also a high achiever in the classroom. A student in Felician’s honors program, she was an Academic All-CACC honoree in 2005, and was named the College’s Senior Female Student-Athlete of the Year and NJAIAW Woman of the Year as a senior.
Scarpari, who owns a B.A. in psychology, works for the International Longshoreman’s Association Employee Assistance Program. She is an avid photographer, and offers her freelance services to several non-profit organizations.
Still active as a player, Scarpari spent four years as an assistant softball coach at Monroe Township High School, her alma mater. She is currently a volunteer with the township’s recreation program, and gives year-round private instruction.
