John Maresca

Dr. John Maresca brings over 25 years of experience in education and leadership to the collegiate setting. A former varsity football letterwinner at New Jersey City University, he combines a lifelong passion for athletics with an extensive background in academic instruction and administration.

Maresca earned his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Argosy University, where his research focused on student, teacher, and parent perspectives on ability grouping in elementary schools. He also holds a Master’s degree in Classroom Instruction and Curriculum from Kean University and a Bachelor’s degree in History from NJCU.

Throughout his career, Dr. Maresca has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, professor, and educational services director. He has led schools in both New Jersey and California, supervised and mentored future educators at Grand Canyon University, and developed innovative programs to improve student outcomes, teacher effectiveness, and school culture. His work has included curriculum design, professional development, character education initiatives, and after-school athletic programming such as boxing and football.

In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Maresca is a published author and frequent presenter on instructional strategies, student engagement, and interdisciplinary teaching. His commitment to a “student-first” philosophy and his own athletic background reflect his belief in the strong connection between academics, character, and athletics.
