SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Junior transfer Elliott Gdanski (Niagara Falls, Ontario) was the low man for the Felician College golf team at the 5th Annual Charger Challenge, hosted by Dominican (N.Y.) College on Sunday and Monday at Spook Rock Golf Course.
Gdanski fired an 80 on Sunday, the Golden Falcons' best individual round of the weekend on the par-72, 6,894-yard course. He followed with an 85 on Monday for a +21 total of 165. He tied for 44th place out of 61 entrants. It was the first time in four tournaments this season that someone other than junior Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, NJ) was Felician's top finisher.
Felician settled for 11th place in the tournament, with team scores of 354-356-710. The Golden Falcons were 59 strokes behind 10th-place Pace University. St. Thomas Aquinas College won the 11-team event, breaking a four-way tie for first place after Day 1 with a -3 total of 285 on Monday. Matt Horton of the College of Saint Rose was the medalist with 73-69-142 (-2).
Finishing in the other three scoring positions for Felician were junior Matt Smith (Gibbstown, NJ) (54th, 85-91-176), Tsouhnikas (55th, 95-82-177), and senior Jimmy Simpson (Biscayne Park, FL) (T-58th, 94-98-192).
