RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Visiting Nyack College played spoiler on Felician College's "Dig Pink" Night, earning a come-from-behind 3-2 (25-10, 21-25, 14-25, 25-21, 15-9) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over the Golden Falcons on Thursday at Job Gym. Senior Megan Delamater (Paramus, NJ) posted seven kills, 32 assists and 14 digs for Felician.
After the teams split the first two sets, the Golden Falcons finished Set 3 with a 15-3 run. Felician then took an 18-15 Set 4 lead, but the Warriors (11-11, 10-5) scored seven consecutive points, and were able to finish out the set and re-knot the match. Nyack never trailed in the decisive fifth set, posting a .600 attack percentage to earn their third consecutive victory. Felician fell to 0-2 in five-set matches on the season.
Felician received a spark off the bench from freshman defensive specialist Marilyn Verdi (Parsippany, NJ), who played the final four sets and recorded a season-high five digs. Jenna Matesic (Paramus, NJ) led all hitters on the night with 16 kills and added 12 digs, and teammate Alexa Scrivanich (Paramus, NJ) turned in nine kills, three blocks and a career-best six service aces for the Golden Falcons.
Nyack junior Amelia Moore (Austin, TX) recorded a triple-double with 13 kills, 21 assists, and 11 digs.
Felician's "Dig Pink" Night fostered breast cancer awareness. All proceeds from concessions and raffles held during the match will benefit a local chapter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
