LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Felician College women's soccer team got off to a slow start and came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision to host Georgian Court University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Investors Savings Bank Field.
The loss tightened the middle of the CACC standings with two conference games remaining for the Golden Falcons. Felician still holds on to second place in the league but is only one point ahead of third place and six points in front of ninth.
In the opening period, Felician (8-5-1, 7-3) was out-shot 7-1 and Georgian Court held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. The hosts went into halftime with a 2-0 advantage on goals by Katie Schieder (Langhorne, PA) in the 21st minute and Kaitlyn Hartkopf (Cherry Hill, NJ) in the 36th.
The Lions (9-7, 6-5) took full control when Kelly Lyons (Jackson, NJ) scored just 42 seconds into the second half. GCU led in shots for the afternoon, 12-7, and goalkeeper Shealyn Sullivan earned the shutout with four saves. Junior Allie Couzo (Sayreville, NJ) stopped four shots for Felician.
GCU improved to 8-1 at home this season.
