Box Score BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Felician College volleyball team would not go quietly into the offeseason. However, the Golden Falcons, facing a 2-0 deficit, fell three points short of a full comeback in a 3-2 (25-13, 25-17, 23-25, 23-25, 15-12) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Concordia (N.Y.) College on Tuesday evening at the Meyer Athletic Center.
Felician held on in the third and fourth sets after getting out to leads of 15-9 and 11-6, respectively. In the fifth, Concordia (7-19, 7-12 CACC) scored consecutive points take a 9-7 lead, and Felician could not win back-to-back points to catch up for the rest of the match. The match was the final one of the regular season for both schools.
Felician junior Jenna Matesic (Paramus, NJ) turned in 16 kills, and teammate Anni Polscher (Elmshorn, Germany) recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Alexa Scrivanich (Paramus, NJ) hit .320 with 13 kills and two blocks, and set a Felician single-season record for attack percentage by finishing at .196.
Also for the Golden Falcons, senior Megan Delamater (Paramus, NJ) completed her career with a season-high 42-assist, eight-dig effort, and freshman libero Marilyn Verdi (Parsippany, NJ) had a season-best 12 digs.
Concordia ran up an 18-3 advantage in service aces for the night. The Clippers received 16 kills apiece from Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) and Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA)(seven digs, five aces).
