Box Score 2 RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Southern Connecticut State University won both its matches at a Division II women's volleyball tri-match hosted by Felician College on Saturday afternoon at Job Gym. SCSU earned 3-0 non-conference victories over Georgian Court University and the host Golden Falcons. The day began with Georgian Court's five-set Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference triumph over Felician.
The day's opening match lasted two hours, 10 minutes, before GCU prevailed by a score of 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 17-25, 15-8. The Lions' Tatiana Villariny (Rio Grande, P.R./Superior Pedro Falu) had five kills, an ace and a block in the decisive fifth set.
Sophomore setter Gabby Migliore (West Caldwell, NJ/James Caldwell) posted career highs of 30 assists and 11 digs for the Golden Falcons. Classmate Alexa Scrivanich (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) hit .333 with nine kills, five digs and three blocks. Villariny finished with 13 kills and 11 digs for the Lions.
Southern Connecticut then began its day with a 25-22, 25-15, 25-20 win over GCU (3-4, 2-0 CACC). Owl sophomore Sarah Beres (Ellington, CT/Ellington) filled the boxscore with 11 kills, three aces, four blocks and a .348 attack percentage. Francheska Cedres (Carolina, P.R./Bautista de Carolina) led the Lions with 13 digs.
Saturday's events concluded when the Owls (5-1) defeated Felician, 25-9, 25-14, 25-21. SCSU hit .341 for the match, including .480 in Set 1. Eleven players recorded at least one kill for Southern, led by seven from Natasha Carlbert (Southington, CT/Southington). The Golden Falcons (0-7, 0-2 CACC) received 11 digs from junior Jenna Matesic (Paramus, NJ/Paramus).
Felician returns to CACC play on Tuesday night when it travels to defending league champion Caldwell College.
