Quality Second Half Leads Felician Past Post, 3-2

Box Score

LYNDHURST, N.J.
– Sophomore Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) set up all three of her team's goals in Felician College's come-from-behind 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory over visiting Post University on Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

The match went into halftime tied, 1-1, but Felician took control by scoring twice in a three-minute span in the middle stages of the second half. Emily Gleason (East Hanover, NJ/Morris Catholic) put the Golden Falcons ahead in the 66th minute. Gleason finished after accepting a nifty touch pass from Stephanie Jimenez (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) inside the 18-yard box on Arcona's corner kick. At 68:11, Jimenez dashed down the left wing to send home a rebound after a shot from Arcona was saved.

The insurance goal proved valuable for the hosts when Post's Elin Nyman (Sweden) scored her second goal of the contest with 1:07 remaining in regulation. The Felician defense kept the team out of danger after the restart, knocking several balls out of bounds or back toward the Post goal. The hosts ran up a 23-12 shot advantage, including 15-4 in the second half.

Felician junior goalkeeper Allie Couzo (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) earned the victory with eight saves, including seven in the first half.  Grace McConnell (Leeds, England/Royds Specialist Language) stopped eight shots for the Eagles (1-4, 1-2). Junior JoJo Pisani (Wyckoff, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights) had her most active game of the season with seven shots, including the Golden Falcons' first goal.

A steady rain fell for most of the first half and each team took advantage by scoring on a rebound. Nyman got a second-chance goal in the 14th minute, and Pisani finished when an Arcona shot was saved at 21:12.

Arcona is the first player in Felician history to record two three-assist games. The Golden Falcons defeated Post for the fifth consecutive season.
