NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Freshman Jordan Farley (Brick, NJ) broke a 1-1 tie, scoring with six minutes, 33 seconds, to play in regulation, to lead Felician College to a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory over host Wilmington (Del.) University on Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex. It was Farley's first collegiate goal.
Felician (5-2, 4-1) gained a small measure of revenge for last season's playoff ouster at the hands of the Wildcats. Wilmington ended the Golden Falcons' 2010 campaign in the CACC first round with a 5-3 victory, also at Kirkwood.
On Saturday, Felician went into halftime with a 1-0 lead on an unassisted tally by leading scorer Stephanie Jimenez (Fair Lawn, NJ) in the 24th minute. But the Wildcats got even when Jordanne Hoesli-Atkins scored on a set piece 13:17 into the second half. The game remained even until Farley's blast from beyond the 18-yard box put the Golden Falcons back ahead.
Wilmington (2-5, 1-3) owned a 17-9 advantage in shots, but forced Felician junior goalkeeper Allie Couzo (Sayreville, NJ) to make just three saves. Amanda Walters had five saves for the Wildcats.
