RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women's volleyball team took a set from first-place Dominican (N.Y.) College, but the visiting Chargers stormed back for a 3-1 (25-19, 13-25, 25-16, 25-17) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory on Friday night at Job Gymnasium.

The match was originally scheduled for Wednesday night, but was pushed back two days after both schools were closed due to clean-up efforts from superstorm Sandy. Dominican (22-7, 18-0 CACC), which has locked up the CACC North Division regular-season crown, has won 16 consecutive matches and remained unbeaten in league play.

Felician freshman opposite Olivia Emerson (Sparks, Nev./TMCC HS) hit .462 on the night and led the hosts with 14 kills and three blocks. Classmate Kayla Gallagher (Bloomingburg, N.Y./Pine Bush) added nine kills and two blocks for the Golden Falcons.

The Chargers never trailed in their opening set triumph, taking their largest lead at 16-9. Felician closed to within 17-15, but Dominican responded with six of the next eight points.

The Golden Falcons, however, exploded to hit .545 in an easy Set 2 win that evened the match.

Dominican led, 11-10, in Set 3 before seizing control. The visitors posted eight of the next nine points and closed out the set for a 2-1 lead in the match, then took a 19-6 advantage in Set 4.

Freshman outside Tori Dexter (Selah, Wash./Selah) paced Dominican with 14 kills, nine digs, and three aces. The Chargers received six kills, 34 assists, and 10 digs from senior setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, Calif./Buena).

Felician (1-23, 1-17) concludes its 2012 season by hosting Philadelphia University at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Senior outside Jenna Matesic (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) will be honored in pre-match Senior Day ceremonies. Matesic amassed five kills, six digs, four aces, and two blocks on Friday.
