Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Concordia (N.Y.) College erased a two-sets-to-none deficit in its 3-2 (25-27, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 15-12) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over host Felician College on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium. The five sets contained a combined total of 33 ties and 15 lead changes.
Four Felician players posted double-doubles in defeat, including the first of her career for freshman setter Sarah Shebel (Chandler, Ariz./Perry), who amassed 24 assists and 18 digs. Fellow freshman Susan McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla./North Fort Myers) nearly mirrored Shebel's effort with 21 assists and 18 digs.
Golden Falcon sophomore Anni Polscher (Elmshorn, Germany/KGS Elmshorn) led all hitters with a career-high 22 kills and added 10 digs, and senior Jenna Matesic (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) contributed 11 kills and 11 digs.
Felician (0-7, 0-2) overcame a 19-12 deficit to win Set 1, and scored the final five points of Set 2 to emerge victorious. But Concordia pulled away late in the next two sets to force the tiebreaker. In Set 5, the Clippers once again found themselves in comeback mode, trailing 8-3 before rebounding to tie the set at 11-11. Two hours and seven minutes after the first service, Concordia (1-6, 1-1) emerged with five of the match's final six points for their first victory of 2012.
Both teams put four players in double figures in kills. Leina Braga (Salvador, Brazil/Rotary) topped Concordia with 15 kills and added three blocks. Clipper setter Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) produced 46 assists, 16 digs and four aces. Concordia enjoyed advantages of 12-5 in service aces and 12-4 in blocking.
Freshman Kayla Gallagher (Bloomingburg, N.Y./Pine Bush) picked up 12 kills and four blocks for the Golden Falcons.
