Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Dominican (N.Y.) College women's soccer team scored the game-tying goal early in the second half, and went on to play to a 1-1, double overtime draw with host Felician College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action Wednesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Exactly 13 minutes into the second half, Dominican sophomore Jennifer Becker (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) accepted a pass from teammate Stephanie Falzarano (Roslyn Heights, N.Y./Roslyn) and buried a shot under the crossbar from the right side. Becker's first goal of the season knotted the game at 1-1.
Each team was only able to put two shots on goal after halftime. Felician (4-4-1, 3-2-1 CACC) had the two best chances to break the draw. In the 66th minute, sophomore midfielder Jordan Farley (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) got free in the middle of the box but sent a shot just over the crossbar. Midway through the second overtime period, Kristen Toropiw (Hopatcong, N.J./Hopatcong) sailed a long indirect kick that went into the goal untouched.
Golden Falcon junior striker Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, beating a defender to get herself free for an 18-yard strike. It was Arcona's CACC-leading 10th goal of the season.
Felician held slight edges in shots, 13-11, and corner kicks, 4-2, for the night. Golden Falcon senior goalkeeper Allie Couzo (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) made five saves, while Dominican junior Veronica Iozzi (Chester, N.J./Mendham) stopped four shots.
