Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. -- Junior striker Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) scored four goals to lead the Felician College women's soccer team to a 6-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Concordia (N.Y.) College on Thursday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The match was the 2012 home opener for Felician and the CACC lid-lifter for both schools.
Arcona is believed to be just the second player in the 15-year history of the Felician program to tally at least four goals in a game. Sandi King set the school record of five in the Golden Falcons' inaugural season of 1998.
Felician senior midfielder Emily Gleason (East Hanover, N.J./Morris Catholic) tied a school record on Thursday with three assists.
The Golden Falcons (2-0, 1-0) amassed a 25-1 shot advantage for the day, and led, 8-1, in corner kicks. They build a 4-0 edge in the contest's first 24 minutes, and carried that lead into halftime.
Arcona scored in the ninth minute, finishing on a cross from Gleason, then converted a penalty kick 86 seconds later. Felician also received first-half tallys from Kristen Toropiw (Hopatcong, N.J./Hopatcong) and Macki Groves (Millville, N.J./Millville). Arcona provided the final margin with goals in the 61st and 69th minutes of play.
Felician freshman goalkeeper Julia Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Community) needed to make one save to earn a shutout in her first career start. Johana Vargas had nine saves for Concordia (0-2, 0-1).
