Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder Macki Groves (Millville, N.J./Millville) scored twice in the first 19 minutes and senior forward Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) also produced two goals as Felician College defeated host Concordia (N.Y.) College, 4-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Purchase College.
Felician (3-6-4, 2-3-4 CACC), which had combined for four goals in its last six matches, produced a season-high offensive output.
Felician opened the scoring six minutes, 43 seconds into the contest when Concordia sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Forlini (Yonkers, N.Y./Maria Regina) saved a shot off the foot of the Golden Falcons' JoJo Pisani (Wyckoff, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights), but could not corral the rebound. Groves was the first player to the loose ball and put a shot past Forlini to give the visitors the lead.
Groves struck again at the 18:27 mark. Freshman defender Carly Brantner (Waldwick, N.J./Eastern Christian) sent a ball from the left side into the 18-yard box. The pass found the foot of Groves in front of the goal, and she was able to finish with a low shot for the second multi-goal game of her career.
The Golden Falcons took a 3-0 lead into halftime after Arcona tallied unassisted in the 30th minute. Felician capped the scoring nearly 11 minutes into period two when Arcona got free on a breakaway.
Felician out-shot the Clippers, 25-1, including 18-1 in the first half. Pisani finished with two assists, and freshman keeper Bjonda Ademi (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made one save to earn her second consecutive shutout. The Golden Falcons also owned a 9-0 edge in corner kicks for the day.
Forlini was credited with nine saves and Flavia Santana (Queens, N.Y./Arts & Business) got off the lone shot for the hosts.
