Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Felician College owned a 7-1 shot advantage in overtime, but settled for a 1-1 draw with host Dominican (N.Y.) College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at DC Soccer Field. Freshman midfielder Mikaylah Davies (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) scored her first career goal for Felician (3-7-5, 2-3-5 CACC).
Dominican (6-3-4, 6-2-2) ended the day in a tie for third place in the CACC. Felician sits two points out of the conference's eighth and final playoff spot with two league games remaining.
Trailing 1-0, at halftime, the Golden Falcons obtained the equalizer just under seven minutes into the second period. A corner kick by junior defender Kristen Toropiw (Hopatcong, N.J.) found the foot of Davies, who put the ball in the back of the net at 51:59.
Felician thought it had gone ahead in the 83rd minute following another corner kick by Toropiw. Sophomore midfielder Macki Groves (Millville, N.J.) was the first to the ball and got off a clean shot from inside of 10 yards in the middle of the field. The Golden Falcon coaching staff argued to no avail that the ball went in the goal and through a hole in the net, but the referee ruled that the shot missed wide. The Golden Falcons were awarded two more corners in the final six minutes but could not convert.
Dominican freshman goalkeeper Gina Yannette (Dumont, N.J.) made five of her 10 saves during the two overtime periods. Golden Falcon sophomore Julia Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) was credited with eight saves. Felician finished the match with edges of 18-16 in shots and 10-2 in corner kicks.
Melissa Messina (Hillsdale, N.J.) scored her third goal of the season in the ninth minute to give the Chargers the early lead.
Felician played its eighth overtime game of the season and garnered its fifth draw, extending school records.
