Nyack Uses Efficient Offense To Top Felician, 3-0

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Nyack College hit .345 en route to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-14) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over host Felician College on Thursday night at Job Gymnasium. Nyack (16-11, 12-2 CACC) earned its 10th consecutive victory and moved into sole possession of first place in the CACC North Division.

 

The loss pushed Felician (4-14, 4-10) a full game behind Post University for fourth place in the CACC North. The Golden Falcons have five conference matches left to play. The division's top four teams at season's end will qualify for the league playoffs.

 

Senior setter Brianna Kane (Bethany, Conn.) ran the Warriors' efficient offense, posting 33 assists, six digs and three service aces. Nyack freshman outside hitter Abbey Lawson (Mililani, Hawaii) hit .600 and led all players with 13 kills, while teammate Samantha Garza (North Branch, Mich.) hit .370 with 12 kills, three blocks and two aces.

 

Sophomore middle blocker Kayla Gallagher (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) and junior opposite hitter Emma Reijonen (Joensuu, Finland) topped Felician with eight kills apiece. Gallagher hit .412 for the night and added a pair of solo blocks. Golden Falcon sophomore setter Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla.) contributed 26 assists and three aces.

 

The Warriors trailed only once in the first set and just twice in Set 2. The visitors then led, 21-8, in the third set before closing out the victory. Nyack hit .600 (14-2-20) in Set 3.
