Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Felician College redshirt sophomore defender Erica Evans (Rockaway, N.J.) scored her first collegiate goal in the Golden Falcons' 1-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer draw with host Holy Family University on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field. Holy Family (5-4-1, 4-1-1 CACC) both began and ended the day in a second-place tie in the CACC standings
Felician (1-6-3, 0-3-3 CACC) earned its third tie of the season, both overall and in conference play. Both totals are program records. All three of the Golden Falcons' draws have come by 1-1 scores.
A deadlocked final score seemed to be the inevitable result on a day where the teams had trouble separating themselves from each other statistically. Not only did each team take 15 shots, but the Golden Falcons and Tigers were even with six first-half attempts, eight in the second half, and one in overtime. Both sides also put seven shots on goal. Felician held a slight 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
All of the match's scoring came in the first 21 minutes. Evans capitalized on a Tiger turnover in the hosts' penalty area and put the ball in the lower right corner of the net at the 12:03 mark. HFU equalized at 20:59, when Madison Hudson (Oakville, Ontario) headed home Kimber Kisselbeck's (Langhorne, Pa.) corner kick.
While goalkeeper Julia Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) was keeping them in the game with a five-save second half, the Golden Falcons shot into some back luck during the period. Junior Kirsten Mortelliti (Hammonton, N.J.) saw a shot clang off the crossbar in the 56th minute, and senior Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, N.J.) hit a post in the 70th. In the final seconds of the second overtime, Felician successfully defended a corner to preserve the tie.
Sheridan finished with six saves, as did her counterpart in goal, Tiger freshman Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa.). Arcona led all players on the day with five shots. On a summer-like October afternoon, both teams substituted liberally, with Felician using a season-high 18 players.
