Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – Sophomore setters and co-captains Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla.) and Sarah Shebel (Chandler, Ariz.) helped Felician College hit .258 in its 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-18) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over host Post University on Wednesday night at the Drubner Center. The duo combined for 26 assists.
Felician (3-9, 3-5 CACC) earned its first three-set victory since Sept. 4, 2010.
Olivia Emerson (Sparks, Nev.) posted a solid two-way effort for the Golden Falcons. The sophomore outside hitter amassed a match-high 15 kills and two service aces, and led the visitors with seven digs and three blocks. Junior middle Tonia Ford (Bayonne, N.J.) added six kills and two blocks.
Felician got out to a 15-7 Set 1 lead in an eventual 25-16 victory. The second set featured five lead changes and eight ties, the last one at 20-20. A pair of Post errors then gave the Golden Falcons a two-point edge, and two Emerson kills would close out the set.
Felician never trailed in the third set, leading 17-15 before reeling off four consecutive points to pull away. Emerson teamed up with Emma Reijonen (Joensuu, Finland) for a block and the 24th point before producing a kill to end the match exactly one hour after the first service.
Emerson hit .382 on the night. The Golden Falcons totaled nine aces, topped by four from Reijonen. McKeever finished with 15 assists and six digs and Shebel added 11 assists, seven digs and two aces.
Freshman opposite Kerrin Kallman (Lake Grove, N.Y.) accumulated 11 kills and eight digs for the Eagles (3-12, 3-4).
Felician returns to action on Friday, when it hosts Bloomfield College at 7 p.m. in its annual "Dig Pink" match to raise funds for breast cancer research.
