Box Score BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Felician College women's volleyball team lost to host Bloomfield College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-16) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action Friday evening at BC Gymnasium. Bloomfield (9-7, 6-1 CACC) won its fourth consecutive match and maintained its hold on first place in the CACC North Division.
Bear junior outside Diannmarie Rivera (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) hit .333 and led all players with 12 kills. Senior Emma Reijonen (Joensuu, Finland) and freshman Sally Taylor (San Diego, Calif.) had six kills each for the Golden Falcons (5-8, 3-6)l.
The first set featured seven ties and four lead changes. But after a Bloomfield service error gave Felician an 11-10 edge, the Golden Falcons did not score while serving for the rest of the set. The hosts went ahead, 19-13, then, following a side-out, Bear freshman Samantha Rios (Juncos, Puerto Rico) produced three consecutive service aces. A pair of Rivera kills gave Bloomfield the set.
Bloomfield got out to a 7-2 Set 2 lead. The Golden Falcons later trimmed an 18-12 deficit down to 20-19, but the Bears rolled off the set's final five points. Bloomfield sophomore Ashley Wright (Moreno Valley, Calif.) finished it with a kill and an ace to put her team ahead, 2-0.
The Bears stretched a 9-7 lead to 20-9 in Set 3. Felician picked up five consecutive points, but Bloomfield earned five of the match's final seven rallies.
Rios finished with 13 digs, four assists and three aces from her libero position, and Wright added 10 kills and eight digs. Senior middle Tonia Ford (Bayonne, N.J.) turned in five kills, seven digs and three blocks for Felician.
The Golden Falcons play the CACC's other first-place team, South Division leader Holy Family University, on Saturday at noon in northeast Philadelphia.
