Box Score  PHILADELPHIA – Playing its second first-place opponent in as many days, the Felician College women's volleyball team lost to host Holy Family University, 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 26-24) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gymnasium. Holy Family (9-10, 7-2 CACC) leads the CACC South Division by a half-game.
The Tigers offense posted a .318 attack percentage for the day and served up 12 aces. HFU freshman outside Melanie Ingram (King of Prussia, Pa.) hit .333 and led all players with 15 kills. Freshman outside Sally Taylor (San Diego, Calif.) led Felician (5-9, 3-7) with seven kills and eight digs.
HFU stretched a 6-4 first-set lead to 13-5 and 17-7. The Tigers hit .364 for the set. Leading, 8-6, in Set 2, the Tigers reeled off nine consecutive points. The teams traded service errors before a 7-0 Holy Family run made it 24-7. Felician saved four set points before succumbing.
Set 3 featured 10 ties and seven lead changes. The Golden Falcons recovered from a 19-14 deficit to lead, 23-21. The Tigers saved a set point on an Ingram kill, then thwarted Felician's attempt to extend the match two points later when a block by Erin Miller (Chandler, Ariz.) and Katelyn Scherber (Woodbridge, Va.) secured victory for the hosts 62 minutes after the first service.
Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill.) hit .333 with 12 kills and six digs for the Tigers, and teammate Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn.) turned in eight kills and seven aces. Senior Emma Reijonen (Joensuu, Finland) had six kills and eight digs for the Golden Falcons.
Felician lost in three sets to Bloomfield College, then the first-place squad in the CACC North Division, on Friday night. The Golden Falcons host Caldwell University on Tuesday
