Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Post University came back from at least a four-point deficit in each set of its 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-20) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over host Felician College on Wednesday night at Job Gymnasium. Post (9-7, 5-2 CACC) has won three consecutive matches.
Felician freshman outside hitter Sally Taylor (San Diego, Calif./SDCE) hit .219 and topped all players with 12 kills. Sophomore middle hitter Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill South) paced a balanced Eagle attack with 10 kills, five digs and three blocks while hitting .242.
The Golden Falcons (5-7, 3-5) got off to a hot start, as four service aces from Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla./North Fort Myers) helped put the hosts ahead in Set 1, 6-0. Felician still led, 16-10, before Post rebounded to score 12 of the next 13 points and go on to the 25-22 triumph.
Felician got out to a 14-10 advantage in the second set, only to see the Eagles tie things up at 17-17. A Tonia Ford (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) kills put the Golden Falcons back on top, but Post then rattled off five consecutive points and seven of the set's final nine.
A similar pattern showed itself in Set 3, which was tied on eight occasions. Felician was ahead by as much as 14-9 before Eagle junior Mariah Morris (Vilseck, Germany/Vilseck American) came off the bench to record a kill and two aces in a 4-0 run. Later, with the teams deadlocked at 17-17, Taylor put the Golden Falcons back ahead with a kill. But then the next six points were won by the visitors, and the teams traded side-outs until Post claimed the victory on its first match point.
Ford finished with six kills and a career-high 12 digs. Fellow senior Emma Reijonen (Joensuu, Finland/Lyseo Joensuun) put down eight kills for Felician, while McKeever amassed 24 assists, seven digs and four aces.
The Eagles out-hit Felician, .241-.089, on the night. Post sophomore Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y./Thomas Edison) hit .615 with eight kills and four blocks, and classmate Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn./Plainfield) hit .467 with eight kills and nine digs.
