Newman Center. The match marked the beginning of 2014 CACC play for both schools.

The Cougars (3-1, 1-0) were picked to finish first in the CACC North Division in the league's 2014 preseason coaches' poll. They were paced on Wednesday by freshman outside Taryn Auyong (Honolulu, Hawaii), who hit .225 with 14 kills and nine digs.

The third set featured five ties and three lead changes. Caldwell was ahead, 22-18, before three consecutive kills drew the visitors within one. After a Felician error, a Taylor kill and a block by Emma Reijonen (Joensuu, Finland) knotted the set. The teams traded side-outs, and the Golden Falcons went back ahead on Sarah Shebel's (Chander, Ariz.) only kill of the night. They then used a Cougar setting error to clinch the set and extend the match.
Felician could not continue to build momentum, however. Caldwell never trailed in Set 4, moving ahead 4-0 on four Felician attack errors. The Cougars built their lead to 18-7 and went on to victory.
Shebel posted 28 assists and eight digs and Reijonen finished with eight kills and three blocks (all solo) for the Golden Falcons. Caldwell libero Jaclyn Del Cid (Bogota, N.J.) amassed a match-high 25 digs.
