Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Dominican (N.Y.) College scored with 10 minutes, 58 seconds, remaining in regulation to gain a 2-2 draw with visiting Felician College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer action on Thursday afternoon on the Dominican Campus. Senior midfielder Jordan Farley (Brick, N.J.) registered a goal and an assist for Felician (2-1-2, 1-0-1 CACC).
The match got off to an exciting start. Dominican senior forward Melissa Messina (Hillsdale, N.J.) found the back of the net just 1:45 into the contest. The Golden Falcons answered in the fourth minute when Farley's corner kick found the foot of senior Kirsten Mortelliti (Hammonton, N.J.), who finished to knot the score at 1-1. Farley converted from 15 yards out in the 29th minute to send the visitors into halftime with a one-goal edge.
The score remained 2-1 until a ball sent into the 18-yard box deflected to Charger junior Elisa Falzarano (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) in the 80th minute. Falzarano, who had entered the game just 71 seconds earlier, was able to get the ball into the goal. Felician suffered a bit of bad luck fewer than two minutes later when a shot from freshman Amanda Nowak (Lyndhurst, N.J.) hit a post. The Golden Falcons then successfully defended an 89th minute corner kick before the teams headed into extra time.
Scoring opportunities were scarce during the two overtime periods. Dominican (1-3-1, 1-1-1) owned a 4-1 overtime shot advantage, but put only one attempt on frame. Felician had the last chance when Nowak fired a shot over the crossbar with 30 seconds to play.
Statistically, the match was nearly as even as on the scoreboard. The Chargers finished with a 13-11 shot advantage, but Felician had the edge, 6-4, in corner kicks. Dominican sophomore goalkeeper Gina Yannette (Dumont, N.J.) was credited with four saves, while Golden Falcon junior Julia Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) stopped five shots.
Felician continues a stretch of CACC road games by traveling to Chestnut Hill College on Saturday.
