Box Score LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The Felician College women's soccer team failed to leverage its offensive advantages into goals on Saturday afternoon during a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Chestnut Hill College at Victory Field.
Felician (2-2-2, 1-1-1 CACC) owned a 16-10 advantage in shots for the day, but was only able to put five of those on goal. Chestnut Hill senior goalkeeper Samantha Pauls (South Plainfield, N.J.) stopped all five to earn the shutout. The Griffins (1-4, 1-2) also successfully defended six Golden Falcon corner kicks, including four in the second half while protecting their lead.
The match's only score came with 11 minutes, 20 seconds, to go until halftime. A CHC corner kick deflected to Griffin freshman Kylee Jazikoff (Brick, N.J.). Trying to settle the bouncing ball, Jazikoff instead took a shot which caught Felician keeper Julia Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) at an awkward angle and trickled past Sheridan over the goal line. It was Jazikoff's first collegiate marker.
Pauls preserved her team's edge on the scoreboard by making a diving stop of a Marissa Nieves (Brick, N.J.) free kick in the 79th minute. Felician was dangerous again in the closing minutes, after being awarded a corner kick with 90 seconds remaining. Jordan Farley's (Brick, N.J.) strike found the head of Golden Falcon freshman Amanda Nowak (Lyndhurst, N.J.), but Nowak guided the ball just wide of the post. Felician out-shot the Griffins, 8-3, after halftime.
Nowak led all players on the afternoon with four shot attempts. Sheridan was credited with three saves.
