Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Junior middle Kayla Gallagher (Bloomingburg, N.Y./Pine Bush) hit .450 with 11 kills and five blocks to lead Felician College to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-18) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's volleyball victory over visiting Concordia (N.Y.) College on Wednesday night at Job Gymnasium.

Felcian (3-4, 2-2 CACC) won its third consecutive match, the first time in the program's 11-year history that the Golden Falcons have accomplished that feat.

Freshman outside Sally Taylor (San Diego, Calif./SDCE) hit .368 and recorded nine kills and eight digs for the Golden Falcons. Junior setter Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla.) filled the boxscore with 21 assists, four kills, four aces and seven digs.

The first set was tied seven times, the last occasion at 11-11, before Felician ran off four consecutive points and never trailed again. With her team ahead, 16-14, Golden Falcon senior outside Emma Reijonen (Joensuu, Finland/Lyseo Joensuun) came up with a kill and an ace to touch off another 4-0 spurt, giving the hosts breathing room in an eventual 25-18 triumph.

Felician never trailed in Set 2. The Golden Falcons opened up an 11-7 lead, then, following a side-out, scored 12 consecutive points. Gallagher posted three kills, three blocks and an assist during the run. Leading 23-11, Felician ended the set with kills from Reijonen and Gallagher.

The Golden Falcons recovered from a 10-6 third-set deficit to capture the set, 25-18, and squash the Clippers' comeback hopes.

Felician hit .244 for the night and held Concordia (1-4, 0-3) to a negative team attack percentage. The Golden Falcons also owned a 7-1 edge in aces. Freshman middle Katharina Birgmeir (Munich, Germany) put down a match-high six blocks for the Clippers.

Felician junior libero Paty Giemza (Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland/Lodz) accumulated 17 digs and three assists, and handled 18 serve receptions without error.

Gallagher is hitting .410 with 2.90 kills and 1.20 blocks per set during Felician's current three-match win streak.

The Golden Falcons conclude a four-match homestand by entertaining Wilmington (Del.) University in CACC interdivisional action on Saturday at 1 p.m.
