GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Felician College junior Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.Y./Colonia) carded a 75 to tie for eighth place in a 65-player field at the College of Saint Rose Fall Men's Golf Shootout, held on Saturday at Pinehaven Country Club.
The tournament was scheduled for 36 holes, but was shortened to 18 when Friday's round was rained out. Rasmus came within one stroke of his season-low score while breaking 80 for the fourth time in seven rounds this season.
Rasmus was the only Golden Falcon to finish in the top half of the field on the 6,946-yard par 71. Sophomore Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) shot 82 and tied for 36th place. Sophomore Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) tied for 45th with his 84, and freshman Justin Keiser's (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) 92 tied him for 63rd place.
Felician tied for 11th place in the 12-team tournament with a 333. Saint Michael's College also shot 333, with both teams trailing 10th-place Saint Anselm College by five strokes.
Roberts Wesleyan University captured the team championship with a 14-over-par total of 298, nipping Southern New Hampshire University by two shots. SNHU senior Jake Nutter was the only player to break par, earning medalist honors with a 68.
