NEWARK, Del. – The Felician College women's volleyball team nearly took a set from the second-place team in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division before losing, 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-23) to host Wilmington (Del.) University in CACC interdivisional action on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

Felician sophomore middle blocker Shannon Hood (East Orange, N.J.) hit .333 and led the visitors with a season-high-matching nine kills.

The Wilmington offense produced 49 kills and a .321 attack percentage for the match. The Wildcats also came up with 14 service aces, while allowing none.

The Wildcats (13-6, 7-2 CACC) hit .343 in winning Set 1. They turned a 10-7 deficit into a 23-11 lead before closing out the set. Wilmington then jumped out early in Set 2, opening up edges of 9-3 and 15-4.

Wilmington led, 8-3 and 17-12 in the third set, but the Golden Falcons came back for a brief 20-19 advantage. The set was tied at every point from 19 to 23, but the Wildcats came away with the victory when Allison Briley (Monroeville, Pa.) put down consecutive kills.

Briley hit .462 and led all players with 15 kills and 10 digs. Wilmington senior Alex Siolos (East Moriches, N.Y.) produced 11 kills, 14 assists, five digs and four aces.

Senior setter Susie McKeever (North Fort Myers, Fla.) was one of three players with four kills for Felician (4-15, 2-6). She added 19 assists and seven digs. Classmate Pati Giemza (Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland) led the Golden Falcons with 10 digs.

Felician concludes a three-match road swing by traveling to Caldwell University on Tuesday.
