Box Score WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University scored on a restart with three minutes, 38 seconds, to play in regulation time and earned a 1-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory over visiting Felician College on Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Felician (5-6, 5-4 CACC) suffered its second consecutive 1-0 loss.
Post (7-4-1, 7-1-1) moved into sole possession of first place in the CACC with 22 points, one better than Georgian Court University. However, Georgian Court has two games in hand.
There was little to separate the sides throughout most of the Tuesday's match. Felician, after forcing Eagle senior goalkeeper Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash.), to make a pair of saves in the opening period, could not put a shot on frame in the second half. The match appeared ticketed for extra time until Felician committed a foul in the Post offensive third in the 87th minute. The Golden Falcons player received a caution for the offense, so the game clock froze at 3:38.
Post sophomore midfielder Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) was able to bend her direct kick around the Felician defensive wall and inside the right post for her eighth goal of the season. The Golden Falcons earned a corner kick as time wound down, but could not generate an opportunity.
Felician junior keeper Bjonda Ademi (Wayne, N.J.) suffered only the second loss of her career. Ademi relieved an injured Julia Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) in the fifth minute, and was credited with four saves. Ademi is 4-2-1 in her three years as a Golden Falcon.
Post's Lexxi Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) got off a game high four shots, helping lead the hosts to an 11-7 shot advantage.
