KEENE, N.H. – The Felician College men's golf team completed the fall portion of its 2015-16 season by finishing ninth out of 11 teams at the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational, held Sunday and Monday at Bretwood Golf Course.
Felician shot 338 on Day 1 and sat in ninth place. Despite improving by seven strokes on Monday, the Golden Falcons made no movement among the field. With 669 strokes, Felician was two shots ahead of 10th-place Saint Michael's College, but 16 behind the College of Saint Rose in eighth.
Junior Justin Rasmus (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) was the only Felician player to finish in the top half of the 59-player field. Rasmus carded an 83 on the par-72 course on Sunday before rebounding for a 79 on Monday. His 18-over-par total of 162 tied him for 29th place.
Sophomore Chris Bekefi (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) was the Golden Falcons' low man on Day 1 with an 82. He followed up with an 83 during Monday's round for a 165. Classmate Andrew Capone (Denville, N.J./Parsippany Hills) (85-80) also shot 165 for 36 holes, and both players tied for 33rd place.
Freshman Justin Keiser (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) finished 53rd with 88-89-177.
Bentley University won the tournament by 10 strokes, shooting 299-296-595. Bentley's Macolm Oliver was the medalist after finishing one over par (74-71-145).
Despite missing his team's last three tournament's of the fall, senior Andrew Geesey (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) leads Felician though the fall season with a scoring average of 77.3 (six rounds). Rasmus has played all 10 rounds and is averaging 80.0.
